How does Empathy relate to an Educational Assistant? Sheldon Tjon-Aloi
Roots of empathy relates to an Educational Assistant by informing and making children have a better understanding when there are infants around, and bringing it into the classroom environment, where they can participate and ask various sorts of questions and have actual responses from the parents of the child, such as how is the child when eating, when can the child begin to walk or how do you handle a situation if the baby is ever having a tantrum or is not feeling right, even informing the students on when is a good time for them to begin their own family in the near future, it provides reasons as to what the child needs in order to have a safe and educational household. The great part is children have a better more understanding and is constantly learning from real people, which is great, oppose to just watching a video from You-tube for instance or just reading a book it can relate to an Educational Assistant significantly. Roots of empathy also teaches us on how to be a more patient and kinder human being in society, for instance when a baby is crying, you are still caring for them and giving love to them at the same time, so this teaches students on how someone else is feeling and are testing their own questions they believe are appropriate to ask a parent who is raising up a baby and learn from it, a great example in an article that I read online (2017, The star) is when the baby has a diaper accident, the parent is cleaning up after them and still is showing their love and affection because it shows you care, another example would be seeing the child struggle to reach a toy, this is important in an Educational Assistant role because there will be many different scenarios in the career field we have chosen, such as children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or any other condition they are struggling life, whether it would be from accessibility to a bladder infection problem, we need to observe and think about what we should do, research and get some feedback from others as well on how we can handle the situation in a professional manner and leave our other feeling on the side. In a way I believe this career field is like being a nurse because you are assisting the student in this case as oppose to a patient and caring for them regularly, the end result of the day is you providing that necessary assistance, but the job is rewarding because you can have a positive effect on the person that can leave a smile on their face or just to even have a better communication there. In conclusion these are ways on how it can relate to an Educational Assistant significantly everyday.
